WESTLAND MAYOR, WAYNE COUNTY SHERIFF EVANS PROMOTE SAFETY WITH SHOPPING SCENARIOS

Westland, MI – You’ve seen it happen – or perhaps you’ve done it yourself: talking on your cell phone while returning to your car while bogged down with purchases from the store; or perhaps it’s setting your purse on top of your car as you fumble for keys to get inside. These are definite holiday shopping no no’s, and to prevent these from happening, Westland Mayor William R. Wild is hosting “Wayne County Sheriff Warren Evans’ Safe Holiday Shopping Tips” at Westland Shopping Center on Monday, November 24, 2008 at 11 a.m. to ensure that residents shop safely.

“We all have so much going on during the holidays that we forget about safety,” said Westland Mayor William R. Wild.  “Women in particular often do the lion’s share of holiday shopping, and are also masters at multitasking, so we want to prevent them from becoming easy targets.”

The live demonstration will include scenarios involving the mishaps that shoppers often fall prey to when shopping during the holiday season.

“Sheriff Warren Evans’ Safe Holiday Shopping Tips” will take place in the east parking lot of the mall near Kohl’s, facing Wayne Road. Westland Shopping Center is located at 35000 West Warren at the northwest corner of Wayne and Warren roads.
